| ABOUT AIBD-NC |
| Residential Design Specialists |
Building a home incurs the greatest financial burden most people
will face in a lifetime, and yet few envision how complex the process
is until they are tangled in a jungle of codes, ordinances, house plan
options, and product and contractor choices.
When a new home or
home improvement project is in your future, a specialist in residential
design is the best choice to guide you through the design/building
experience. It makes sense to secure design services from a qualified,
experienced source, a member of the American Institute of Building
Design (AIBD).
Since 1950, AIBD has provided its members with
educational resources and developed nationwide design standards and a
code of ethics for the building design profession. Today AIBD is a
nationally recognized association with professional, associate, and
affiliate members in 47 states and throughout Canada, as well as
Europe, Asia, and Australia. Its chartered societies are active in
their respective legislative arenas and work to promote public
awareness of the building design profession and emphasize the role we
fill as a valuable resource for residential design services. |
| Our Mission |
AIBD, NCS is committed to establishing and maintaining professional
relationships with other organizations in the design and construction
industry, whose products and services contribute to promoting better
building design in North Carolina. We strive to provide our membership
with the latest information on code and legislative issues, new
technology and new building products that are unique to our region. By
providing continuing education that is tailored to regional conditions,
we equip our members to better serve the public. In addition, we will
strive to promote student membership and the formation of student
chapters. |
| HOW TO SETUP A MEMBER’S PROFILE AND PAGE |
AIBD North Carolina Website/Member Profile Instructions
Attached
are instructions for making modifications to member information on the
AIBD North Carolina website. You can access the website from the
following link.
http://www.aibdnc.com (You are already there!)
To
enter the Member Services area you will need to click on the “Login”
tab in the upper right corner of the page. You will then be prompted to
enter your username and password. Your username is your first initial
and your last name, your password is “password”. (I would suggest that
you change this password once you get into the member profile section
since all members will have the same “password”) You will need to click
on the “Login” button in the center of the screen to enter the Member
Services area. Once you enter the Member Services area you will see
links to areas where you can create and modify member content.
Update My Profile
This is where you will setup your contact information to be displayed on the website.
The
first 2 lines are for names and numbers you can edit this as you
choose, but remember that your username will not change when you edit
these lines.
Line three allows you to select the NC district you
are in. If you find this information to be incorrect, you can change
it, but you should notify the state office of the error.
The next 4 lines allow you to enter or edit your company name and address.
On the Email line you may enter an email address that you would like to be displayed on the Member Listing page.
On the Web line you may enter a URL for your company website if you have one. (eg. http://www.mydesigns.com) This will be displayed on the Member Listing page.
The
next line “Include in Home Page Featured Designer Rotation:” should be
toggled “NO” at this time, once you have created a Member Page you can
come back and change this setting.
Under the “Edit Password”
section you should create a password that is uniquely yours and one
that you will remember. The system administrator can assign a new
password, if you should forget yours, but can not identify current
passwords. Each member should create their own password as in the
initial setup of member files all members were given the password of
“password”, this must be changed to prevent modifications of your
profile.
The “AIBD NC Web Site Status:” setting should be
toggled to “Inactive” at this time. Once you have created a Member
Page, and tested it you can come back and change this setting.
Now
you will need to click on the “Save My Profile” button to activate the
changes you have made. Once you complete this step you should click on
the “Designers” link on the left side of the screen and then click on
the district in which you are located, or click on the state map
location. This will open up a display of Member Listings that you can
scroll through and verify that information you entered into your
profile is displayed correctly.

Member Page click at the page on the bold word MEMBERS. This will take
you to the MEMBER SERVICES Page. From there you can edit your profile
by clicking on Update Member Profile or Update My Home Page & My
Image Galleries. Just click on the one that you want to do. To and
