Leonard Vogel has been designing custom homes and additions for more than 30 years. For the last 19 years, Mr. Vogel has operated his own design firm, Vogel Residential Design, Inc., based out of Durham, N.C., focusing on custom homes as well as additions and major renovation projects.
Mr. Vogel believes all good residential design is based on the classical architectural principals of proportion and balance, and all good addition work should compliment the original structure in a graceful manner. The goal of each of Mr. Vogel’s designs is to merge day-to-day functionality with the personal aesthetics that define a client’s dream home while maximizing the natural elements each unique site has to offer. Green, Sustainable and Universal design principles influence all his design projects. The result is a home that is beautiful, functional, and endurable for both the homeowner and the envioronment.
Mr. Vogel is an active member of the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD) where he serves as a member of its National Board of Directors and State Treasurer for the North Carolina Society. He is also Vice President of the National Council of Building Designer Certicication (NCBDC), a member of Preservation North Carolina, and the Orange County Historic Preservation Commission. Mr. Vogel also recently completed a yearlong course in classical architecture given by the Institute of Classical Architecture in New York. |
